Sandy is a Behaviour Support Practitioner with Impactful Insight based in Western Sydney who provides services across the Sydney & Nepean/Blue Mountains regions. As a NDIS registered Behaviour Support Practitioner Sandy provides behaviour support services to individuals within the context of the National Disability Insurance Scheme funded supports. This includes behavioural assessments, behaviour support plan development with strategies and training which fundamentally aim to address the function of behaviour/s in safe and positive manner.
Sandy has been a teacher for over 20 years, with roles across mainstream, support units, Schools for Specific Purposes and in the private disability sector. This has enabled her to gain experience with students with a wide range of behavioural needs. She also has over a decade of parenting experience with her daughter who is neurodivergent and has a moderate intellectual disability. Sandy has a passion for improving the wellbeing of the family unit as a whole, as she knows how integral that has been in her own family life and in the journeys of the families she has worked with.
She has also worked as the Head of Services for a Plan Management provider, where she was able to develop a comprehensive applied knowledge of NDIS Plan implementation across a wide range of service delivery models, as well as advocacy skills with providers, the NDIS and education systems. Sandy has a Bachelor of Health Science (PDHPE), a Bachelor of Teaching, a Graduate Certificate in Specialist Inclusive Education. She is currently undertaking a Graduate Certificate in Positive Behaviour Support.
